Debbie Burkhead – Class of 2016
Debbie Burkhead began her poker career as both a player and writer in the 90’s, She began writing for Pokerpages.com, and worked as an editor at Poker Digest for a brief time until it was sold. She penned a bi-monthly column called “Debbie Does Poker” that ran for more than 10 years in Poker Player Newspaper. Debbie frequently reported on various ladies events around the country, and promoted ladies tournaments in her writings. In 2003 she began her career as a sales rep for Poker Player Newspaper, and was promoted to National Sales Director in 2009, where she was responsible for the supervision of six sales associates throughout the United States. Debbie also co-founded Poker Player Cruises in 2010 and served as President until 2013.
Debbie has proven to be well rounded tournament player with close to $200,000 in cashes including 1st place titles in Limit Hold’em, No-limit Hold’em, Seven Card Stud, and HORSE.
In 2002 she took the Best-All-Around title at the Peppermill, has finished in the money in four WSOP events; No-limited Hold’em Six Handed, Seven Card Stud High/Low, the Senior event, and the Ladies event. Debbie also won the Lips Grand Championship in 2007 and has been on the Board of Directors of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame since 2008.
Debbie currently works in the position of eastern sales rep for Ante Up Magazine. Her dedication to promoting poker in the ladies community has shown throughout the years in both her writings and her accomplishments as a tournament player.
